The aim of this NPORS course is to provide candidates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to operate a Marine Knuckle Boom Crane effectively and safely, after passing both the NPORS theory and practical tests.
Course Details
To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the industry and their roles and responsibilities as an operator
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook
- Locate and identify the major components and controls of the crane and explain their functions
- Interpret the requirements of a lift plan and risk assessment
- Conduct all pre-operation checks
- Set up an exclusion zone
- Configure and set the crane for lifting and transferring duties
- Identify and inspect suitability of a landing area
- Lift and move loads in a safe and controlled manner, with minimum uncontrolled movement
- Operate the machinery safely and efficiently taking into consideration sea uplift and moving vessel decks
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
