Tidal defences improved for historic Victorian Mill
One of the landmark jobs of 2022 for Ivor King has been the silent installation of 23.5 metre long sheet piles at an old Victorian mill in the Norfolk seaside town of Great Yarmouth.
Standing on the edge of the River Yare, the mill has been protected from the effects of tidal ebb and flow as part of a wider £42.5m Environment Agency Tidal Defence Initiative in the area.
Time to raise the game
There were many challenges to overcome. The sensitive nature of the mill itself. A residential setting alongside a river. Hard ground conditions. So how did we get sheet piles more twice the length of a London bus into a site with tight access, then pass them over a three-storey building and install them vibration-free to form a three sided cofferdam?
All is answered in much more detail, including a video Case Study showing work in progress. Check it out from the link below!
