New Leader Rigs amongst the most sophisticated, versatile and powerful on the market
Ivor King has taken delivery of the second of our brand new RTG RG21T Telescopic Leader Rigs, bringing the number of this type of machine in our fleet up to four units. Built by the internationally acclaimed BAUER Group of Germany, these impressive machines are one of the most technically advanced leader rigs available.
Not only have we doubled our fleet, but we’ve also added further attachments, all of which can switch across any of the four machines using a state-of-the-art automatic coupling system. Whether installing steel or CFA piles, one rig can do it all.
New tooling brings even greater capability
The rig’s core attachment is the MR150AVM 150 tons variable moment vibratory hammer for installing sheet piles. The frequency can be changed according to the soil conditions, which makes it the one of the most powerful, yet efficient vibros on the market.
Plus, we’ve added the Fambo HR5000 5 tons hydraulic impact hammer for driving sheet piles, H beams and steel tubes to our armoury. The Fambo offers a large increase in power from previous older type diesel hammers and is far more environmentally friendly, too.
Bolstering our bored piling capabilities, we have added the MB150 and MB155 rotary heads, each boasting 15 ton metres of torque. These rotaries can be used for pre-augering, CFA up to 750mm diameter, and gives the capability to install rigid inclusions / displacement piles for ground improvement.
The two new rotary heads are in addition to our two existing DKS 50/100 twin rotary heads. These work with casings up to 610mm diameter for pre-augering in extremely hard soils, or for coring through obstructions. The double rotary can also be used to install secant walls very close to adjacent buildings, due to the extremely slim design of the rotary head.
The changeover of attachments is also extremely safe, quick and efficient. These rigs come equipped with RTG’s automatic coupling system, which facilitates any tooling swap-over with the greatest of ease. Negating the requirement for tools or working at height, there are no hydraulic hoses or electrical cables to connect, either.
Another bonus is the inbuilt Bauer B-Tronic computer with SIM card to facilitate fast downloading of pile data, with the added advantage of alerting us to any faults, keeping downtime to the minimum.
Reduced noise levels and emissions via cutting-edge technology
The rigs comply with the strictest of emission standards, sporting eco-friendly Tier 5 Caterpillar engines; at 750HP these are the just about largest engine available of any make or model of Telescopic Leader Rig. This extra power gives us the ability to deal with harder soils and increases production in normal soils. State-of-the-art ECO-mode capability means that engine speed is automatically varied depending on the load, in turn bringing savings in fuel consumption and reductions in noise levels and emissions.
Adding to the RG21T’s eco-credentials, they are fitted with Panolin biodegradable oil as standard, which is non-harmful to the environment, making them ideal for working near water courses and the like.
