Our CPCS A62 Crane Lifting Operations Supervisor course is ideally suited to supervisors and managers with previous experience of on-site lifting operations.
The course is designed for delegates who already hold their Slinger Signaller (CPCS A40) card and are looking to progress, or wish to extend their knowledge associated around the safe lifting of loads. It is best suited to those with adequate experience of cranes to meet the requirements specified in British Standard 7121 ‘Safe Use of Cranes’.
Our training covers how to comply with all the current legislation, Codes of Practice and industrial requirements, including LOLER and PUWER regulations.
You’ll be in good hands, learning with our knowledgeable time-served instructors with decades of on-site industry experience. All our trainers are skilful operators of numerous types of plant and machinery, including cranes, with proficiency in delivering projects following a safe system of work.
On successful completion of the course, you’ll be able to undertake the duties of a Crane Supervisor as defined by an Appointed Person and will receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.

• Roles and responsibilities of this role, as well as other related roles
• Appreciation of cranes types, capabilities and limitations, including commonly used terminology relating to crane use.
• Different types of lifting accessories and how they are used
• Crane stability, safe loading and safe load indicators
• Planning a lifting operation and preparing the lift site
• Maintenance, inspections and thorough examination for lifting equipment and accessories
• Slinging techniques for given loads
• Communication methods for a range of lifting purposes
• Controlling lift operations from a given lift plan
• How to identify potential hazards and unsafe lifting operations
Please note, to be eligible to undertake this course, you must have passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment touch screen test for Managers and Professionals (HS&E MAP) no more than two years before the course start date.
