This NPORS training course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills involved in operating abrasive wheels, in a competent, safe manner after passing both the NPORS theory and practical tests.
Course Details
To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operative
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook and be familiar with other sources of information available including relevant legislation
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
- Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers and legislative requirements
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate when using a cutting or grinding machine
- Select suitable types of abrasive wheel and machine for the work being undertaken
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area and set up an exclusion zone
- Prepare the machine for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently
- Environmental considerations
- Storage and transport of abrasive wheel machine
Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
